The first pharmacy in Ukraine to start vaccinating against influenza: what you should know
24 October 2024 02:24
The first pharmacy in Ukraine has received permission to provide flu vaccinations directly at the pharmacy. This was announced by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Health Minister Viktor Liashko and WHO Country Director for Ukraine Jarno Habicht were the first to be vaccinated.
“All the necessary regulations have been adopted to ensure that vaccination is possible in pharmacies, similar to the way it works in the EU and the US. The Ministry of Health expects the active involvement of pharmacies themselves, as the scaling of the initiative directly depends on this,” the Ministry of Health said.
In order to obtain a permit to provide vaccinations, pharmacies must obtain an appropriate licence from the Ministry of Health, have a separate vaccination room and a waiting area.
Only those pharmacists who have undergone special training are eligible to provide vaccinations in pharmacies. In September, the first group of pharmacists completed a specialised training course at the Bogomolets National Medical University.

The Podorozhnyk pharmacy chain told us that this refers to their pharmacy in Kyiv at 84 Velyka Vasylkivska Street.
Viktor Lyashko said that he gets a flu shot every year.
“It is advisable to get vaccinated before the flu starts to rise (in September-October). However, you can get vaccinated later, even if seasonal flu outbreaks have already been recorded in your region,” he wrote.

Since the beginning of October, French and Korean flu vaccines have been available for purchase in pharmacies.
It should be noted that on 29 February, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed vaccinations in pharmacies.
