25 November 2025 22:04

A Ukrainian farmer from Kherson region became the first"Komersant Ukrainian"to receive state compensation for the demining of agricultural land. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

We are talking about the First of May company, which in 2023 cleared more than 1,150 hectares of land in the Beryslav district at its own expense. The territory was damaged during the Russian offensive in 2022: some of the equipment and production facilities were destroyed, and the fields remained mined.

What is known

In March-April 2023, specialists of the state enterprise Ukroboronservice carried out humanitarian demining, which cost almost UAH 6 million. Under the state compensation program, the farmer received 80% of this amount – UAH 4.76 million.

The payment was made by the Humanitarian Demining Center after the farmer provided supporting documents on the scope of work and a certified contractor. The entire procedure took 51 days.

Reimbursement of part of the costs should strengthen the sustainability of agricultural business

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy explain that the reimbursement of part of the costs should strengthen the resilience of agricultural businesses operating in the combat zone. Deputy Minister Ihor Bezkaravaynyi emphasized that the reimbursed funds will help farmers resume production faster and continue to supply the Ukrainian market with food.

How the program works

The state program allows you to:

  • receive 100% compensation for humanitarian demining for the work planned now;
  • refund 80% of the costs for demining carried out from February 24, 2022 to April 15, 2024.

The application can be submitted through the State Agrarian Register. It is available not only to farms but also to individuals and self-employed farmers. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the relevant changes.

According to the Ministry of Economy, a significant part of the southern and eastern agricultural areas remains dangerous due to mines.

Mine clearance is one of the key factors in restoring production in regions where the war destroyed or blocked the work of agricultural enterprises.
