Ukraine has fulfilled all the necessary requirements to receive the first tranche of $1.5 billion in the coming weeks under the new IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.
This was announced on television by Oleksiy Leonov, a member of parliament, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, and member of the Servant of the People faction, according to "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrinform.
“We have all fulfilled our obligations (to the IMF, ed.) and expect to receive $1.5 billion in the coming weeks,” Leonov said.
He recalled that there were three key requirements from the IMF. The first was to adopt a balanced budget for 2026 in a timely manner. The second was to submit a new Labor Code for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada, and the third was to equalize the conditions for VAT payers participating in state tenders and procurements.
According to Leonov, all these requirements have been met.
IMF program for Ukraine
As a reminder, the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund has approved a new four-year financing program (EFF) for Ukraine worth $8.1 billion. The first tranche is expected in the near future.
Last week, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said that the IMF had lifted the preconditions for the new $8.1 billion loan program.
According to her, these conditions included VAT requirements for sole proprietors, customs duties on parcels, a tax on digital platforms, and a military levy.
At the same time, as part of the new financing program, the IMF requires Ukraine to adopt a number of tax changes. The deadline for Kyiv is the end of March.
