Documents will be required when selling or buying foreign currency: PrivatBank announces conditions

When selling or buying foreign currency in the amount of 400 thousand hryvnias or more, PrivatBank customers will have to provide documents confirming the source of their income. This is stated in an explanation published on the PrivatBank website, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The bank noted that in Ukraine, you can buy or sell foreign currency without any restrictions. However, if you conduct transactions in the amount of UAH 400,000 or more in equivalent, you will have to be identified.

“Foreign currency purchase transactions from clients are carried out without restriction. If the amount of currency purchased from a client exceeds UAH 400,000 (in equivalent), the client must provide documents confirming the source of the funds and undergo identification,”

– the statement said.

Currency is sold to customers at PrivatBank’s cash desks and in Privat24.

What currencies does PrivatBank work with?

The following currencies are available at the bank’s cash desks:

  • euro (EUR)
  • uS dollar (USD)
  • british pound sterling (GBP);
  • czech crown (CZK);
  • polish zloty (PLN);
  • swiss franc (CHF).

As for Privat24 and self-service terminals, they only allow transactions with the euro (EUR) and the dollar (USD).

Transactions with the Russian ruble are prohibited in accordance with the NBU’s requirements (Resolution of the NBU Board No. 18 dated 24.02.2022 “On the operation of the banking system during the period of martial law”).
