Ilyichevsk Oil and Fat Plant Damaged in Russian Strike

26 December 10:12

On the night of December 25, a Russian strike on Odesa region damaged the Ilyichevsk Oil and Fat Plant in the city of Chornomorsk, which belongs to Kernel, the largest producer and exporter of sunflower oil in Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of Kernel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

It is noted that a drone hit damaged a container with vegetable oil, which led to a large-scale fire and oil leakage.

The fire engulfed the company’s production facilities, posing a serious threat to infrastructure and personnel. The drone debris also damaged part of the production unit. None of the employees were injured.

Kernel reports that the company is currently working to eliminate the consequences and assess the damage, including the amount of oil lost.

“These strikes are evidence of a systematic and deliberate campaign to destroy Ukraine’s food and export infrastructure. The Russian Federation is purposefully attacking facilities that ensure the production, storage and export of agricultural products, trying to cause maximum damage to the Ukrainian processing industry and creating risks to international logistics, the environment and the stability of supplies to dozens of countries around the world,” Kernel emphasizes.
