Suspicious death of Serbian defense representative in Moscow: Belgrade awaits answers from Russia

17 December 16:27

The Serbian President has received an official report from the security services about the suspicious death of Radomir Kurtic, a representative of the state defense company Jugoimport SDPR in Moscow. Belgrade claims that there is no information from the Russian side and that documents have disappeared from the company’s office. This was reported by the Serbian edition Blic, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

What happened

The Serbian Military Security Service and the Bureau of Investigation informed the president of the country about the death of Radomir Kurtić, which occurred on November 17, 2025, on the street in Moscow. Kurtić worked as a representative of Jugoimport SDPR, a key state-owned exporter of defense products in Serbia.

According to Serbian media, Belgrade was awaiting forensic medical findings from Russian authorities, but had not received them at the time of publication.

What is alarming

The Jugoimport SDPR commission, which visited the company’s office in Moscow after Kurtić’s death, found a significant number of documents and hard drives missing from computers. These circumstances increased the Serbian side’s suspicions about the nature of the incident.

At the same time, the Russian investigative authorities, according to Belgrade, did not provide any official information to the Serbian Embassy in Moscow, the company’s representative office, or the Serbian security services.

Belgrade’s reaction

At a meeting with representatives of the security services and Jugoimport SDPR, the Serbian president called for refraining from premature accusations. At the same time, he emphasized the need to receive full and official information from the Russian state and its security agencies.

What is known about Jugoimport SDPR

Jugoimport SDPR is a strategic company for the Serbian defense industry and a key player in the international arms market. The death of its representative abroad – especially in the absence of official explanations and against the backdrop of missing materials – could have both security and diplomatic consequences.

The Serbian side is awaiting the results of the Russian investigation and official forensic medical reports. Without them, Belgrade, according to the president, is not ready to draw final conclusions, but insists on transparency and cooperation from Moscow.
