Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has responded to another investigation by Bihus Info journalists into the head of the Kyiv Metro, Viktor Braginsky, Komersant ukrainskyi reports https://www.komersant.info/

Bihus.Info journalists have published the second part of their investigation into alleged fraud in the Kyiv subway.

In the subway reports, investigative journalists found companies associated with the official’s sisters, his longtime business partner Kyrylo Kryvets, and a ballerina, who is Kryvets’s alleged mother-in-law.

According to media reports, an accountant of the Braginsky family won tenders from the Kyiv Metro for UAH 17 million, and the ballerina’s firm received more than a billion hryvnias from the metro. The details of this particular contract were classified, according to journalists.

At the same time, according to Bihus Info, materials from the tender for more than UAH 32 million may not have been supplied to the Kyiv metro.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reacted to the published information about Viktor Braginsky. He asked Bihus Info to pass on all the information to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies.

“I ask Bihus.Info journalists to pass on the information about the facts published in the investigation into Viktor Braginsky to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies. And I appeal to the law enforcement agencies to promptly and openly investigate the information of Bihus.Info,”

– Klitschko wrote on his Telegram channel.

It should be noted that the journalists said they were already preparing all the evidence they had collected to hand over to law enforcement and hoped for a quick response.

After the first part of Bihus.Info’s investigation into the wealth of the family of the head of the Kyiv Metro was aired, the mayor of Kyiv said that Braginsky would be removed from his duties as director of the metro unless he resigned.

The director of Kyiv Metro, Viktor Braginsky , has written a letter of resignation. Viktor Vygivskyi, the chief engineer of Kyiv Metro, will temporarily perform the duties of the head of the utility.

Viktor B raginsky was appointed head of Kyiv Metro by Vitali Klitschko on 16 July 2014.

It should be noted that on 9 December 2023, the Kyiv Metro stopped traffic between Teremky and Lybidska stations due to the need for urgent repairs to the overhead tunnel between the stations.

A total of six stations were affected. The authorities explained that due to “uneven processes of compaction, vibration creep of the surrounding soil massif and the load on the tunnel lining, there is a risk of loss of stability of the tunnel structures”. The operation of this section was suspended for approximately six months.

The closed stations are now only used as shelters during air raids.
