On February 25, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution to terminate the parliamentary powers of Iryna Kormyshkina, a member of the Servant of the People party, who is suspected of illegal enrichment. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to Zheleznyak, Kormyshkina personally spoke in the Rada before resigning her mandate.
This leaves 400 MPs in the parliament and 231 MPs in the coalition.
Zheleznyak noted that one of the following candidates on the party list could run for Kormyshkina’s seat in the Verkhovna Rada:
- Inna Sverba,
- Serhiy Melnyk
- Yulia Paliychuk.
However, according to Zhelezniak, the latter has already withdrawn her candidacy.
The scandal surrounding Kormyshkina began after NABU notified her of suspicion of illicit enrichment. In October last year, the NABU and the SAPO notified Kormyshkina of suspicion because of her 20 million dollars in assets of dubious origin.
Subsequently, the MP was bailed out by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Vitaliy Kim.
A few weeks ago, MP Kormyshkina was served a notice of suspicion of failure to declare her assets.
As a reminder, in 2020, a video was circulated online in which the head of the Servant of the People party and the head of the faction, MPs Oleksandr Kornienko and David Arakhamia discussed their colleague Iryna Allakhverdieva, comparing her to a “ship’s pine.”
In 2023, Allakhverdieva married Yurii Kormyshkin, a member of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, and changed her surname. Kormyshkin is the owner of the PAEK agricultural holding.
