Businessman Nikolai Udiansky said he would no longer invest in Kyiv because of pressure and corruption from the capital’s officials. The businessman posted the video on Instagram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Udiansky spoke about corruption and extortion by Kyiv officials.
“Imagine what I encountered, what I was surprised by. Corruption is so rampant in Kyiv when it comes to investments and business integration into the city that I just had an epiphany,” the businessman said.
According to him, the capital’s authorities first accept money from investors and issue permits, and then demolish the same facilities and “steal everything that has been built at night.”
“The city is doing this, it’s making improvements. I’ve seen a lot, but it’s tough. Under this Kyiv government, I will not see a single penny of investment from me,” Udiansky said.
A day later, he suddenly changed his rhetoric, saying that the conflict was “resolved” after a conversation with representatives of the “top management” and that he was “even ready to build more.”
“The conflict that took place yesterday has been resolved. I was surprised to see the top management, they were absolutely adequate people. So I will continue to build, and maybe with this approach we will build more and invest more,” the businessman said.
He did not explain what caused this change.
