Ukrainian Armed Forces withdraw from one position in Avdiivka, but defence of the city continues

He stressed that as of 13:00 on 16 February, there were no blocked units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“As of 13:00, there are no blocked Ukrainian units in Avdiivka. In a difficult situation on the battlefield… our priority is to save the lives of soldiers. Thus, Ukrainian units withdrew from their positions on the southern outskirts of Avdiivka with minor losses. In other threatening areas, if necessary, troops are also manoeuvring to new prepared positions to be able to continue to hold the city,”

– the commander said.

He added that the logistics at the positions are working and the Ukrainian defenders are promptly supplied with all the necessary weapons and ammunition:

“In order to expand logistics corridors, raid and strike operations are being conducted in the area of Avdiivka. Logistics is working. On the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the defenders of Avdiivka are being supplied with increased volumes of ammunition and other munitions. Stable command of the troops is ensured”.

Meanwhile, the enemy is suffering huge losses in manpower. About five hundred Russians were killed in the Avdiivka sector over the last day.
