When is the best time to climb Hoverla: the best months for climbing?
It is believed that the best period for climbing Hoverla is late spring, summer or the first half of fall, so you should choose dates from late May to mid-October.
However, the most popular month for climbing Hoverla is August.
Climbing time: how many hours to climb Hoverla

The duration of climbing Hoverla depends primarily on the chosen route. The most popular is the route starting from the base “Zaroslyak”, which is divided into a more gentle, “green” route, as well as the “blue”, which has a steeper slope.
So, depending on the level of preparation and the chosen route, the ascent to the summit of Hoverla from the base “Zaroslyak” takes from 2 to 4 hours. At the same time, the descent takes a little less time, so the time of descent will be about 2-3 hours.
If you choose alternative routes, for example, from the village Lazeshchyna, through Mount Petros or Lake Nesamovitoe – the ascent and descent from the mountain can take from 5 to 8 hours.
In any case, when choosing a date to climb Hoverla, you should take into account the weather conditions and the likely number of tourists, which may be higher on weekends and holidays.
What to wear on Hoverla: what kind of clothes and footwear is best for climbing the mountain?

For mountain climbing you should choose comfortable and loose clothes that will not constrain your movements. It is also desirable to take into account the probability of rain, so you need to take with you a raincoat or waterproof things. For a warm season, the most successful set of clothes will be:
- athletic pants/shorts or loafers;
- a t-shirt and/or shirt:
- cap or panama hat.
When choosing clothes, jeans and cotton clothes should be avoided as they absorb moisture quickly. Instead, it is better to favor lightweight and breathable fabrics.
In addition, you need to think about comfortable shoes. Due to the fact that the ascent to the mountain can pass through stony and unpaved trails – the most comfortable option of shoes will be comfortable and breathable sneakers. To avoid injuries, you should not choose slippers or sandals.
What you should take with you to the mountains: things you will need when climbing Hoverla
When climbing the mountain you should take only functional and necessary things. All your things should be compactly placed in a sealed package and folded into a backpack, leaving your hands free.
List of things to take with you in the mountains:
- Food. In order to replenish your strength during the ascent it is advisable to have with you a light but nutritious snack. For example, bars of nuts and dried fruits or protein bars.
- Drinking water. To maintain water balance, you should have at least a small supply of drinking water with you. If you are climbing in cool weather, you can take a thermos with hot coffee or tea.
- Raincoat. Weather in the mountains can be quite unpredictable, so experienced hikers advise you to take waterproof clothing or raincoat.
- Trekking poles. If you choose a challenging route, you may need trekking poles to help you climb to the top.
- Sunscreen. The sun in the mountains can be somewhat aggressive, so it’s important not to neglect sunscreen to avoid burning.
- Sunglasses. In order to protect your eyes from bright sunlight – it is advisable to take sunglasses with a high level of UV protection.
