Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia, as always, is ready for negotiations in the war with Ukraine, but taking into account the “new geopolitical reality”. This is reported by Russian propaganda media, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

Dmitry Peskov was answering a propagandist’s question about the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, which is to be held on 15-16 June without Russian participation. Previously, the Russian side has consistently stated that certain agreements were reached in Istanbul at the beginning of the war, which, however, were not achieved through the fault of the Ukrainian side. Now, the Russian spokesman said that “Istanbul” is no longer relevant.

“The situation has changed, and the geopolitical reality is very different from what it was in March 2022, and it would be short-sighted not to take this into account in any negotiations,”

– peskov said.

By the new “geopolitical reality”, Peskov means the territory of Ukraine occupied by Russia.

“Geopolitical realities in Ukraine are completely different now, and they are different in Russia. the Russian Federation has grown larger, it has four new regions. And everyone needs to take this into account,”

– said the Kremlin spokesman.

He did not give clear answers about his participation in the Swedish Global Peace Summit. Peskov said that it is necessary to figure out what “peace formula” will be presented there. However, he stressed that the event would be meaningless without Russia’s participation.

“We have repeatedly said that the negotiation process without Russia is meaningless, in fact, it is a futile process. President Putin has repeatedly emphasised that we are open to the negotiation process, that this process is the best for us to solve our problems. But under the circumstances, when the Ukrainians have banned this negotiation process, we do not see any horizons ahead,” Peskov said,

– peskov said.

The Global Peace Summit is scheduled to take place on 15-16 June in Switzerland. The list of participants has not yet been made public, but it is known that there are about a hundred of them. The summit is a Ukrainian initiative – Ukraine will once again present its own “Formula for Peace”. The Ukrainian side expects to develop a plan or roadmap for peace, which will help to move forward. Russia has already refused to participate in the summit.

The Ukrainian formula for peace includes 10 steps towards a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine.
