Following a drone attack: the port of Novorossiysk has partially resumed exports of oil and petroleum products

The Black Sea port of Novorossiysk partially resumed the transshipment of oil and petroleum products on the evening of Thursday, April 9, after suspending operations earlier this week due to a drone attack, according to two industry sources.

This was reported by [Komersant] citing Reuters.

The Sheskharis terminal in Novorossiysk—a key export hub through which about 700,000 barrels of oil are shipped daily—suspended operations on April 6 after a drone strike caused a fire at the port’s infrastructure.

According to the sources, oil loading onto tankers resumed late on the evening of April 9, but operations are currently limited to a single berth. A shipment of approximately 80,000 tons is expected to be loaded on Friday, they added.

The sources added that the port has also begun transshipping fuel oil and diesel fuel.

Traders expect the oil export schedule to be revised due to damage to the terminal, the timeline for repairs of which is currently unknown.

In early March, the Sheskharis terminal had already suspended the loading of oil and petroleum products following a drone attack.

Exports of petroleum products through the Novorossiysk terminals in 2025 totaled 19.8 million tons, according to sources.
