Ukrposhta warns of delivery delays after attack on infrastructure in southern Odessa region
19 December 21:53
“Ukrposhta has reported possible delays in the delivery of parcels to and from a number of settlements in the south of Odessa region. The matter concerns, in particular, Belgorod-Dnistrovskyy, Reni, Izmail, as well as nearby towns and villages.
This was stated by the CEO of the company Igor Smelyansky, noting that the team is working to minimize delays and deliver the items to the addressees as quickly as possible, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Reasons for the restrictions
The warning was sounded against the background of an enemy attack on critical infrastructure, due to which traffic on the highway “Odessa-Reni” was stopped. As a result, the passage of citizens and vehicles through certain checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Moldovan section of the border in Odessa region was temporarily suspended.
This very highway is a key logistical artery for the south of the region, so its blocking affected postal transportation.
What works without changes
In “Ukrposhta” notes that despite the logistical difficulties, offices in the southern part of the Odessa region continue to work in normal mode. The company also assures that it has found backup solutions for cash delivery.
According to Igor Smelyansky, all pension payments, as well as the processing of applications under the state program “Winter Support” are carried out on schedule.
Problems with logistics affected not only the state operator
“New Post” also warned of possible delivery delays in the western part of the Odessa region due to temporary difficulties with transportation.
While traffic on the highway “Odessa-Reni” remains restricted, postal operators are preparing to work under the conditions of modified routes.
Ukrposhta promises to inform customers about further changes and urges them to understand the temporary delays.
