Following Orthodox Easter, U.S. President Joe Biden’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner may visit Ukraine for the first time.
According to "Komersant Ukrainian", this was announced by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OP), Kirill Budanov, in an interview with the American news agency Bloomberg.
According to him, Kushner is expected to lead the delegation to Kyiv. Senator Lindsey Graham will also join the American delegation.
This will be the first visit by the U.S. negotiating team to Ukraine. Witkoff and Kushner have previously visited Russia on multiple occasions for talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
An unnamed U.S. official quoted by Bloomberg said that a potential trip by Witkoff and Kushner to Ukraine is currently being discussed, but it has not yet been confirmed.
At the same time, Budanov emphasized that security guarantees from the U.S. remain a key issue for Kyiv in the event of a possible peace agreement with Russia.
“We have long determined what we want. I think this will be implemented in the near future. What happens next is another question. But regarding security guarantees, we have definitely made progress—we have already moved forward,” the head of the Presidential Office emphasized.
He also confirmed that Ukraine is receiving signals from its partners regarding the need to limit strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure amid a global rise in oil prices due to the war in the Middle East.
