After the war, Ukraine will have about 5-6 million veterans and their families.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said in a Telegram message that she emphasized this during a meeting with representatives of the Coalition of Veterans’ NGOs, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“Ukraine is the first country to build a holistic veterans’ policy during the war, not after it. This requires decisions based on the real experience of our defenders and their families,” Svyrydenko said.
During the meeting, representatives of the Coalition of Veterans’ NGOs presented updated concepts of state policy towards veterans and their families.
“After our last meeting in August, the government has already taken into account many of the proposals in the draft Veterans’ Code, which will soon be submitted to the parliament. I am grateful for the effective cooperation of the Veteran Hub, Principle, Space of Opportunities, and Legal Hundred,” Svyrydenko said.
According to her, after the war is over, Ukraine will have about 5-6 million veterans and their families. That is why, according to Svyrydenko, veterans’ policy should be organically integrated into all spheres of life.
At the meeting, the parties agreed on further steps. In particular, the Ministry of Veterans, together with veterans’ NGOs, will hold discussions with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economy on proposals in the areas of health and employment. Separately, the issue of access to driver’s license exams for veterans with disabilities after studying at barrier-free driving schools will be launched with the involvement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Our goal is for every veteran and their family to feel effective support from the state: in medicine, education, work, social services, and everyday life,” Svyrydenko summarized.
