Too late: Polish producers seek to return Ukrainian goods

Polish oil producers demand unblocking of rapeseed imports from Ukraine. They estimate that the shortage of raw materials in the 2025/2026 season will reach at least 0.5 million tons, which will negatively affect Polish processing plants.
This is reported by Money.pl, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The Polish Association of Oil Producers (PSPO), which represents 95% of Poland’s oil and fat factories, has appealed to Prime Minister Donald Tusk to intervene in amending the resolution of the Ministry of Development and Technology of September 15, 2023, which bans the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.
The reason, according to the association, is the projected shortage of rapeseed on the Polish market.
According to PSPO, this deficit is expected to reach at least 0.5 million tons in the 2025/2026 season.
The Association noted that the situation of the domestic oilseed industry is already “extremely difficult”. It is already experiencing a shortage of raw materials for the 2024/2025 season, given the processing capacity of oilseed mills, which exceeds 4 million tons of rapeseed per year.
Adam Stempiń, CEO of PSPO, noted that the 2023 decree banned imports of rapeseed from Ukraine, but did not ban imports of oil, which affects Polish crushers.
