3 July 2024 20:30

On Thursday, 4 July, regional power distribution companies will apply three simultaneous phases of blackouts. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to the Ukrenergo Telegram channel.

The national energy company said that from 07:00 to 13:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00, two rounds of blackouts will be applied, and at other times of the day – three at once. This means that there will be no power outages during the hours that are greyed out on the visual schedule of scheduled and emergency outages.

It should also be noted that blackouts are not foreseen for critical infrastructure companies and companies that import 80% of their electricity in accordance with a government decree.

Energy situation in Ukraine today

Due to massive Russian shelling, the power system is experiencing a capacity shortage. Yesterday, to partially cover the power shortage, Ukraine additionally received emergency assistance from the power systems of Poland and Slovakia.

The main reason for the restrictions is the enemy’s attacks on energy infrastructure and the negative consequences of these attacks.

Over the past day, shelling caused new blackouts in Dnipropetrovska, Kharkivska, Donetska, Sumska, Chernihivska, and Khersonska oblasts. In Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, overhead power lines were disconnected due to hostile shelling.

In Chernihiv Oblast, 947 customers in 15 settlements were simultaneously cut off from electricity supply as a result of shelling.

In addition, on 3 July, bad weather cut power to 191 settlements. Of these, 161 settlements were in Khmelnytsky region, 20 in Ivano-Frankivsk region, 6 in Chernivtsi region, and 4 in Zhytomyr region.
