Trains are delayed across Ukraine: Ukrzaliznytsia explains the reasons

9 January 00:54

Due to the sharp deterioration in weather conditions, train traffic throughout Ukraine has been disrupted, with some trains running late. This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The company noted that extreme weather conditions caused emergency situations on the infrastructure, particularly in the Kyiv region. There, due to the fall of a 110 kV overhead power line support onto the contact network, one of the railway sections was temporarily de-energized, which led to delays for a number of trains.

The most significant delay was recorded on international flight No. 10/9 Budapest-Kyiv.

Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that the emergency obstacle has already been eliminated and the power supply to the contact network has been fully restored. The delayed trains are gradually returning to their schedule and continuing their journey.

The carrier also warned passengers that for trains arriving in the capital during curfew, bus transfers around the city will be organized with the assistance of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The company urges passengers to follow updates, check the status of their trains online, and be understanding of the temporary inconveniences caused by the bad weather.

We remind you that on the eve of the large-scale power outages in some regions, Ukrzaliznytsia switched some trains to backup thermal traction to minimize delays and ensure continuity of movement.
