Fraudsters are sending emails allegedly on behalf of the State Tax Service that contain malware. This was reported by the head of the State Tax Service Ruslan Kravchenko on Facebook.
“Dear taxpayers! We are recording a new wave of mass distribution of fake emails allegedly on behalf of the State Tax Service. This is the second such wave in the last week. We have already received signals about this from taxpayers in a number of regions,” he said.
The official emphasized that the State Tax Service is not involved in such mailings.

He explained that the attachments in the emails contain malware that is activated after opening a PDF file and gives attackers remote access to the computer.

Kravchenko reminded that all official email addresses of the State Tax Service must contain the domain name tax.gov.ua after the @ symbol.
“We advise you not to open attachments in suspicious messages. If you have any doubts about the origin of the letter, please contact the tax authorities directly,” the head of the State Tax Service urged.
At the beginning of the year, fraudsters sent fake emails purporting to be from the State Tax Service with contacts that asked the recipient to contact a representative of the agency.
