Weather in Ukraine: whether to expect cold and snow after warming

Starting March 6, 2025, Ukraine is expected to experience significant warming, accompanied by mostly dry and sunny weather. In most regions of the country, daytime temperatures will range from 9 to 18 degrees Celsius, and nighttime temperatures will rise above freezing.

Forecasters note that from March 8 to March 9, Ukraine will experience comfortable weather, which provides a great opportunity for spending time outdoors
march 6 (Thursday). Partly cloudy weather without precipitation is expected. At night, there may be short-term rains in the northern and eastern regions. The wind will be westerly, 5-10 m/s. The temperature will be 0… 5 °C at night, 9… 14 ° C, in the southern, western and some central regions up to 18 ° C.
march 7 (Friday). Sunny and dry weather will remain. In some places, there may be fog at night and in the morning. West/southwest wind, 5-10 m/s. The temperature will be 1… 6 °C at night, 12… 17 °C, in the Odesa region up to 20 °C in some places.
march 8 (Saturday). The period of dry and warm weather will continue. Fog is possible at night and in the morning. Wind of variable directions, 3-8 m/s. The temperature will be 1…6 °C at night, 12…17 °C during the day. 17 °C.
march 9 (Sunday). Dry and partly cloudy weather is expected due to the influence of an anticyclone from the northeast. Wind will be east/southeast, 5-10 m/s. Temperatures will be 1…6 °C at night, 11…16 °C during the day, in the north and east. 16 °C, in the northern and eastern regions 6… 11 °C.

According to her, on March 10-11, there will be a rise in temperature, an increase in heat, as the heat-air mass will move to us from the southwest. And due to the fact that there will be no precipitation in Ukraine and more sunshine, the air will warm up to 15-18 degrees Celsius during the day. This is typical for Central Ukraine and possibly the Carpathian region. But in Vinnytsia and Odesa regions, it will be 20 degrees Celsius.
“And then, according to preliminary calculations, the temperature will drop, precipitation will be in the form of rain and snow. It is possible that snow cover will form in the second decade of March and the temperature will drop to more March-like levels. That is, we will jump into April, and in mid-March we may return to March, to a temperature background somewhere in the range of 2-8 degrees Celsius,” the forecaster predicts.
Natalia Golenya also does not rule out the possibility of snow in the West, North and Central regions of Ukraine.
Natalia Didenko, a weather forecaster, also makes similar predictions. According to her, it will be very warm in Ukraine by the end of the week. During the daytime, the maximum temperature will reach 14-16 degrees, and in some places in the center and south up to 18 degrees.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the wind will decrease, it will be dry, clear, with sunshine and throughout the day:
- 15 degrees on Friday;
- on Saturday and Sunday it will be a little fresher, 10-12 degrees.
According to Natalia Didenko, the next cold snap in Ukraine is expected to start on March 14-15.
Meteorological spring has come to Kyiv
Meanwhile, forecasters at the Ukrhydrometcenter report that meteorological spring has begun in the capital.
According to the observations of the United Hydrometeorological Station Kyiv, starting from February 28, the average daily temperature has been consistently above 0°C. Meteorological spring has come to Kyiv, which is within the climatic norm.
The meteorological winter, which, according to the updated calculations of the observatory’s climatologists, began on February 4 and ended on February 27, lasted 24 days, which is 68 days less than the long-term average. It turned out to be the shortest winter in the capital since the observations began, with the exception of the winter of 2019-2020, when it did not occur at all.
