An improvement already today: the repair of the power unit made it possible not to turn off the lights

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports on the significant improvement of the situation in the power system thanks to the early completion of the planned repair of one of the nuclear power units. The connection of this block to the network significantly reduced the existing electricity shortage and allowed to avoid massive blackouts in many regions, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
Despite the difficult situation in the energy sector, caused by massive enemy attacks and constant shelling of the energy infrastructure, especially in the front-line and border areas, it was possible to stabilize the electricity supply.
According to the Ministry of Energy, in the western and partially southern regions, power supply restrictions are planned only for the period from 18:00 to 24:00, while in other regions they operate around the clock.
However, DTEK reported with reference to Ukrenergo that the shutdown schedules will not be applied throughout the country until 4:00 p.m., and in Odesa region – until 6:00 p.m.
To further stabilize the energy system, Ukraine continues to import electricity from neighboring countries, in particular from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Moldova, with a maximum capacity of 1,321 MW. Export of electricity is currently not carried out and is not planned.
The Ministry urges citizens to follow the official announcements of Oblenergo in their regions regarding possible changes in the restriction schedules.

The situation in the Ukrainian energy sector
On March 29, 2024, Russia resumed attacks on Ukrainian energy, carrying out the most massive shelling during the entire period of full-scale war. In particular, Dniproges and other energy facilities of Ukraine were hit. Since then, Russia has regularly shelled Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.
So, the Russians destroyed the Trypil and Zmiyiv TPPs, as a result of which “Centrenergo” lost 100% of its generation. Also, 5 out of 6 thermal power plants of DTEK were badly damaged.
After that, blackouts began again in Ukraine, Ukrenergo introduced blackout schedules, and the government immediately increased the electricity tariff by 60%.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers intends to build two new units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP and has already received the approval of the relevant parliamentary committee. The Razumkov Center criticized these plans, but some experts believe that today only traitors or scum are against the construction of the NPP.
