Poles call not to vote for Ukraine at Eurovision because of Jerry Heil sweatshirt

Polish social media began to call for not supporting Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The reason was a Jerry Heil sweater, namely the Banderaciaga inscription on it. Relevant posts are gaining popularity on social network X, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Before the semi-final, Poles also noticed on social media that the Ukrainian representative of Jerry Heil on TikTok sang “Teresa & Maria” in a khaki sweater from the Ukrainian brand HYPE LABS with the Banderaciaga inscription.

Banderaciaga is a play on the combination of the name of the 20th-century Ukrainian independence fighter and OUN leader Stepan Bandera and the fashion house Balenciaga.

Although the video was posted in early March, it is only now that Polish followers have taken notice.

@jerryheil The track continues to bring us to the world charts 😛😍 what part do you sing most often?” #jerryheil ♬ Teresa and Maria – Jerry Heil

Poles who consider Bandera a fascist guilty of committing genocide against the Polish people are outraged by this video and call for not giving any votes to the Ukrainian representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest.

It should be noted that Ukraine reached the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, while Poland did not. Who knows, maybe Poland’s traditional 12 points are now in doubt.

We would like to add that the song Teresa & Maria is a collaboration between two Ukrainian singers – Alyona Alyona (Alyona Savranenko) and Jerry Heil (Yana Shemayeva). The number was directed by Ukrainian director and Grammy nominee for Best Music Video Tanya Muinho.

the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, which will be attended by representatives of 37 countries, takes place in May in Malmö, Sweden. The semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held at the Malmö Arena on 7 and 9 May, with the super final taking place on Saturday, 11 May.
