In Poland, funds are being raised for 100 generators and power stations for Kyiv. The Stand with Ukraine Charitable Foundation, Euromaidan-Warszawa, the Igor Trach, Open Dialogue, and Democracy foundations, as well as the international online magazine for women Sestry are participating in the fundraiser.
According to Sestry magazine, the goal is to raise 400,000 zlotys (almost 92,000 euros), reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The situation in Kyiv requires immediate action. Thermometers in the Ukrainian capital show 17 degrees below zero, and in this cold, up to 70% of the city’s residents are without electricity and heating. People are sitting in freezing apartments and basements, dressed in several layers of the warmest clothes, sleeping at home in tents, several sleeping bags, and under several blankets, and still freezing. Russian drones and missiles regularly destroy Ukrainian energy facilities, and winter continues to be harsh,” the fundraising announcement states.
On January 17, Sestry.eu founder Jerzy Wuczyk said that in just a few days, 1,300 people had already taken part in the campaign, raising more than a quarter of the total amount — 130,000 zlotys (about 30,000 euros).
