Political scientist: “Only traitors or scum are against NPP construction today”

In the context of the energy crisis caused by Russian shelling, only traitors or scoundrels can oppose the construction of two new units of the Khmelnytsky NPP. This is the opinion of political scientist Oleksiy Holobutskiy, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
“In the conditions when Ukraine is without electricity for 6 hours, and the tariff is already more than 4 hryvnias, everyone who is against the construction of state-owned nuclear power plants is either a traitor or a scumbag, or a little bit of both,”
– Holobutskyi wrote on Facebook.
In this way, the political scientist joined the discussion on the possible construction of two additional units at Khmelnytskyi NPP. As a reminder, the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada approved the Cabinet of Ministers’ draft law the day before, which allows and launches this construction.
According to the political analyst, the bill is supported by almost all members of the Verkhovna Rada except for Zhupanin. At the same time, one of the arguments of the project’s opponents is the fact that the nuclear power plant is going to be built using outdated Russian technologies.
“Zhupanin doesn’t like the fact that the equipment that Energoatom is going to buy from Bulgaria at a huge discount was once made in Russia. Do I understand correctly that the deputy does not like the supply of hundreds of armoured vehicles to Ukraine by the Bulgarians, which were once produced in Russia?”
– said the political scientist.
Energoatom claims that work can begin the very next day after the law comes into force, as everything is ready for this – there are even nuclear energy specialists who are not in demand now, who left ZNPP after its occupation. Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said that the power units could be commissioned in 3-4 years.
However, the Razumkov Centre criticised the government’s intentions to build new nuclear power units.
