The Kyiv police have served a notice of suspicion to the director of a private enterprise who, according to the investigation, embezzled almost UAH 30 million received under a contract for the supply of drones, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police, a Ukrainian company entered into an agreement with the entrepreneur to supply a certain batch of UAVs within the established time frame.
The money was transferred, but the promised drones were never delivered, and the company’s representative disappeared from the contact list.

How the suspects acted

The investigation found that the director was working on the instructions of his father, the chairman of the board of the same company.
The scheme looked like this

  • signing a contract for the purchase of drones;
  • receiving almost UAH 30 million as an advance payment;
  • systematic evasion of obligations;
  • complete termination of contact with the client.

The money was misappropriated, and the delivery did not take place.

The official’s actions are regarded as fraud. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. Earlier, his father, the actual beneficiary of the business, was served with a notice of suspicion. Investigators are continuing their work, identifying possible accomplices and the circumstances of the use of funds.
