Police open case against Steko CEO over conflict with military

The police opened criminal proceedings against the general director of Steko, Serhiy Polozhai, for his remarks towards employees of the TCC in Dnipro. Про це повідомляє прес-служба обласної поліції, передає “Комерсант”.

“The incident took place on 12 October on Shevchenko Square in Dnipro. During the check of military records, the 48-year-old man behaved defiantly and, ignoring the rules of behaviour in society, used foul language towards the military,” the statement said.

Thus, the police launched an investigation under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code “Hooliganism”. The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of a fine, arrest or restraint of liberty for up to 5 years.

Law enforcement officers continue to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

As a reminder, on 12 October, a scandal broke out in Dnipro between TCC employees and businessman Serhiy Polozhay. While checking his documents, the businessman swore at the military, suggesting that they go “digging”. The video was published by the Telegram channel Dnipro Operativny.

“I have the health of two of you, and you tell me how to behave and talk. I repeat, I am the CEO. i employ 2760 people. You are a soldier, f**kyou, f**k off digging up sh**,” the businessman said.

After the video of the scandal was shared on social media, local residents identified the person involved in the scandal. It turned out to be the CEO of Steko, a plastic window manufacturing company, Sergey Polozhay.

Later, he confirmed the information on his Instagram and provided details of the incident. According to the businessman, on 12 October, there was a “huge round-up” of TCC employees in the centre of Dnipro – he was walking in Shevchenko Park at the time, where he was stopped by the military commissariats.

The TCC said that law enforcement officers are conducting a legal assessment of the actions of Steko CEO Sergey Polozhay to bring him to justice in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine. The centre called Polozhay’s behaviour “shameful and illegal”.

“Citizen Polozhay personally stated on his social media pages that he had no booking documents for the period of mobilisation. At the same time, he flaunts his disrespectful attitude not only to military duty, but also to military personnel. And he does not hesitate to use profanity,” the TCC and JV noted.

on 14 October, Steko stated that the news about the scandal with their director was allegedly “fake”, as the published video of the conflict was not complete and “the context of the situation was lost and presented in a favourable light for someone”.

on 14 October, the patrol police published a video showing Polozhay breaking traffic rules.

Law enforcement officers demanded that he stop, but he ignored them.

According to the published video, Polozhai said he did not hear the request to stop because of the music, denied that he had driven to the safety island and demanded video evidence.

Administrative materials were drawn up against the driver for violating traffic rules, failing to stop at the request of the police, and, since the driver showed signs of intoxication and refused to undergo a medical examination in accordance with the procedure established by law, a report for driving under the influence.
