Police stop Macron’s motorcade because of Trump: video of incident

23 September 13:38

On the evening of September 22, French President Emmanuel Macron found himself in an unusual situation in New York. After a speech at the UN General Assembly, he was returning to the embassy, but his motorcade was blocked by police because of the passage of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by the Brut newspaper, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to the media, the French leader had to wait for several minutes on the street. The footage shows Macron getting out of the car and talking to a police officer who apologized for the situation. He explained that the traffic was blocked to ensure the safety of the American president.

“I’m sorry, Mr. President, but everything is blocked right now,” the policeman told him.

Macron was not confused and reacted with irony:

“Let me through.”

And then he decided to call Trump personally.

“How are you? Guess what happened? I’m standing in the street because everything is blocked because of you,” the French president said, laughing.

After a few minutes of waiting, traffic was not reopened, so Macron continued his conversation with his American counterpart while walking the streets of New York.

The incident occurred after France officially announced at the General Assembly that it recognizes the State of Palestine.
