On the night of July 27-28, 2025, Russia again launched a massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine. In response, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces activated air operations to protect Polish airspace. This became known from the message of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces via the X platform, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“On the night of July 27-28, 2025, the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation again launched missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine. In order to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures,” the Polish military said in an official statement.

Regular crews of Polish and allied aviation were lifted into the air, and ground-based air defense and radar systems were put on maximum combat readiness.

“These actions are preventive in nature and aimed at protecting the airspace and the safety of citizens, especially in the regions adjacent to the threat zone,” the Command emphasizes.

The patrols lasted almost four hours, after which, due to the reduced threat level from Russian aircraft, the operations were completed.

“The operations of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace have been completed, and the forces involved have returned to standard operation,” the command said on the morning of July 28.

It was also emphasized that no violations of Polish airspace were recorded.

The Command thanked its NATO allies and the Swedish Air Force, whose JAS 39 Gripen fighters stationed in Malbork helped protect the skies over Poland. Ukraine remains fully prepared to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.
