“Today, the sad news shook my heart: Myroslav Kuyek died. He was a poet, writer, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, honoured journalist of Ukraine, public and cultural figure, father of singer Ani Lorak,” the statement reads.

The traitorous singer Ani Lorak reacted to the death of her father in Russian. She also shared on her Instagram an archival black-and-white photo of herself posing with her father in her youth.

In the caption to the picture, the artist left only a few words written in Russian: “Goodbye, Dad… You are forever in my heart.”

What is known about Ani Lorak’s father

Myroslav Kuyek is a poet, writer, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Honoured Journalist of Ukraine, public and cultural figure.

He was born in 1947 in the village of Vytylivka, Chernivtsi region. Later he graduated from the directing department of the Chernivtsi Cultural and Educational School and the Faculty of Philology of Chernivtsi State University.

He worked as the head of the department of the Kitsman district newspaper “Free Life”. He was the editor of many literary and local history books, wrote a poetry collection “The Sacred Gift of Love” and a number of songs for famous artists.

He was awarded the gratitude of the President of Ukraine (1999) and received the State Scholarship for Outstanding Cultural Figures (2003).

Myroslav Kuek and Zhanna Lynkova are the parents of Ani Lorak, who applied for Russian citizenship.

Mirosław Kujek divorced Zhanna Lynkiv before Ani Lorak was born. After Karolina’s younger brother was born, her mother sent her to a boarding school because of poverty. Her father used to visit her, bring her gifts and take her to the store to buy toys. Kuek repeatedly offered the children to move in with him, but they were afraid to offend their mother.

It is unknown what kind of relationship they had recently.

It is worth noting that Ani Lorak supported Russia’s war against Ukraine, but her father remained in his homeland all the time.

Ani Lorak about the war in Ukraine

Ani Lorak was born in the Chernivtsi region and represented the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, when she was awarded the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.

After 2014, she moved to Russia, where she played along with anti-Ukrainian propaganda.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Lorak did not condemn the actions of the aggressor country in which she lived and worked.

Ukrainian artists then condemned her “position”, and the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Information Policy appealed to the President to strip the singer of the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.

In October 2022, the National Security and Defence Council imposed sanctions on Karolina.

Lorak does not hide the fact that she pays money from her concerts to a Russian foundation that “helps” deported Ukrainian children from Zaporizhzhia and Donbas. In interviews with propagandists, she stated that her mission was to “serve people”.
