Valerie Mahaffey, an American actress and producer known for her roles in the TV series Desperate Housewives and Law & Order, has died at the age of 72 .
Her husband Joseph Kell announced her death, Variety reports , "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Mahaffey passed away in her home in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer. The exact diagnosis was not disclosed.
“I have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actresses. Valerie will be greatly missed,” said Joseph Kell.
Career and recognition
Valerie Mahaffey was born in Indonesia but has lived in the United States since she was 16. She received her acting degree from the University of Texas at Austin, after which she made her Broadway debut in the musical Rex.
Her breakthrough role in the soap opera Doctors earned her an Emmy Award nomination.
Throughout her career, she starred in dozens of well-known television projects, leaving a significant mark on the world of American television.
The actress is survived by her husband Joseph Kell and daughter Alice.
