As a result of a massive Russian attack on energy infrastructure on the night of January 24, more than 800,000 subscribers in the Ukrainian capital remain without electricity, and there is a significant deficit in the power system.

This was stated by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“Last night, Ukraine experienced another massive attack by Russia. The enemy targeted energy, heat supply, and other civilian infrastructure in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and other regions.

The situation with electricity. Unfortunately, constant enemy attacks are preventing the situation from stabilizing. The power grid is unable to recover. More than 800,000 subscribers are without electricity in the capital due to emergency blackouts,” the statement said.

According to the minister, due to constant shelling and damage to equipment, there is still a power shortage in the grid, but energy companies are working with international partners to reduce it.

Shmyhal said that over the past few days, more than 143 tons of humanitarian aid had been distributed from one of the Ministry of Energy’s hubs. This mainly includes generators, transformers, cables, and pumps. This equipment is critical for stabilizing the operation of enterprises.

The aid has already been delivered to energy companies in Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as in Sumy, Kharkiv, and other affected regions.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy plans to transfer some of the generators received from international partners to the heating points of the State Emergency Service. This will ensure that citizens are provided with electricity during periods of prolonged power outages.

The ministry is also expecting additional equipment from Slovakia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Italy, Latvia, and Poland.

In Ukraine, as a result of a new massive Russian attack on energy infrastructure on January 24, consumers in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions are without power.

In Kyiv, as a result of the enemy’s massive attack on the night of January 24 and damage to critical infrastructure, nearly 6,000 homes are again without heating. Most of them are those that have already been connected or attempted to be connected to the heat supply twice after the shelling on January 9 and 20.
