Despite the “ceasefire”: The SBU warns of the threat of attacks during the holidays
10 April 21:45
The Security Service of Ukraine has urged citizens to be “especially vigilant” during large gatherings over Easter, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The agency states that Russia continues to attempt to destabilize the situation within Ukraine, especially during major religious holidays.
What is the threat?
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, despite Moscow’s statements about a so-called “ceasefire”:
- Russian intelligence agencies have not ceased their activities against Ukraine;
- information and psychological operations are possible;
- there is a risk of provocations, sabotage, and terrorist attacks.
The main targets may include:
- places of mass gatherings;
- facilities regardless of their purpose—both civilian and infrastructure.
What Ukrainians are advised to do
The SBU has published a list of basic recommendations:
- be vigilant when attending mass gatherings;
- do not react to provocations;
- report suspicious objects or individuals;
- avoid contact with strangers offering “easy money”;
- do not ignore air raid sirens and take shelter;
- observe the curfew;
- help others if possible in case of danger.
What is known about the “Easter truce”
The Kremlin stated that Vladimir Putin had allegedly declared an “Easter truce” for April 11–12.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously stated that Ukraine supports the idea of a ceasefire during the holidays.
However, past experience casts doubt on such statements.
Last year, during a similar “ceasefire,” Ukraine recorded:
- over 2,000 ceasefire violations by Russia in just one day.
This reinforces skepticism regarding the actual observance of such initiatives.
