PornHub starts paying taxes to the state budget of Ukraine

The Canadian company Aylo, which owns the PornHub service, has registered as a value-added tax (VAT) payer in Ukraine as a provider of electronic services. This was announced by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“Thank you PornHub for respecting our tax laws! The company that owns the PornHub service has finally registered as a VAT payer as a provider of electronic services. So now we can monitor the conscientious payment of taxes not only by Only Fans. The latter, by the way, replenished the budget by $0.7 million in the first quarter,”
– the MP wrote.
Hetmantsev said that in the first quarter of 2024, 17 companies will pay the Google tax for the first time.
“As of today, 78 out of 105 taxpayers have declared their tax liabilities in the amount of 2.4 billion hryvnias (25.5 million euros and 32.6 million dollars),”
– the MP said in a statement.
It is noted that the largest VAT payers for digital services declared and paid more than UAH 2 billion before the deadline. These are Google, Apple, META platforms, and Valve Corporation.
We would like to add that earlier, the Ukrainian tax authorities fined PornHub $5543 for non-payment of the so-called Google tax. It is a 20% value-added tax (VAT) that international internet companies that are not registered in Ukraine (as well as other businesses registered in Ukraine) have to pay on income from services they provide to Ukrainians. It was introduced in Ukraine in 2021.
