Officials of Kyivmisksvitlo purchased electricity at a higher price by UAH 12 million

The head of one of the departments of Kyivmisksvitlo has been notified of suspicion of causing almost UAH 12 million in damage to the capital’s budget, which the company overpaid for electricity due to her negligence. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor‘s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to the investigation, in December 2021, the suspect, the head of one of the departments of Kyivmisksvitlo, was supposed to determine the expected cost of electricity to be used in the procurement process in accordance with her duties.
The defendant failed to monitor prices properly. This led to the purchase of electricity by the utility company at a price significantly higher than the market price. Thus, the transaction amounted to UAH 46 million.
At the same time, the total amount of losses to the capital’s budget is almost UAH 12 million.
The law enforcement officers served the official a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence in the procurement of electricity, which caused grave consequences. She may face imprisonment for up to five years.
Currently, motions to impose a preventive measure on the suspect are being prepared.
The investigation is ongoing to establish the involvement of the electricity supplier.
