On December 11, ambassadors of the European Union member states reached an agreement on the 15th package of sanctions against Russia for its war in Ukraine. This was announced by the Hungarian presidency of the EU Council, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The new package expands the list of individuals and organizations and restrictive measures against Russia’s shadow fleet.

“Ambassadors have just agreed on the 15th package of sanctions in response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The new package expands the list of sanctioned individuals and entities and targets companies in Russia and third countries that indirectly contribute to the strengthening of Russia’s military and technological capabilities by circumventing export restrictions. The adopted sanctions restrict the activities of additional third-country vessels involved in supporting actions or policies that contribute to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” the statement said.

It should be noted that the first attempt to agree on the 15th package took place last week in early December, but ended in failure: it was blocked by two unnamed member states.

We would like to add that on December 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree extending sanctions against Russia. The restrictions apply to individuals and legal entities working for the Russian military system.
