US Ambassador Brink responds to massive shelling in Russia: Ukraine needs help

22 March 2024 17:59

After another massive Russian attack on Ukrainian cities, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink called for urgent US assistance to our country. The diplomat wrote about this on the social network X,

“For the second day in a row, the whole of Ukraine wakes up before dawn because of the threat of hypersonic and cruise missiles. Russia’s barbaric attacks across the country continue to threaten civilians and violate international law. Ukraine needs our help now,”

– brink wrote.

It should be noted that military experts have said that Russians will continue to launch missile attacks on our energy system until the end of the war.

Delay in funding assistance to Ukraine

The US Congress has been unable to agree on a bill on military aid to Ukraine since autumn 2023. President Joe Biden has proposed a national security bill worth more than $100 billion, including $61 billion to help Kyiv.

The document was not approved by the Republicans, who want to include in the bill tighter border and migration measures on the US-Mexico border.

US President Joe Biden said he would not support a bill to help Israel initiated by Republicans in the House of Representatives without taking into account Ukraine’s needs.

on13 February, the US Senate passed a bill unblocking aid to Ukraine. It provides for aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan totalling $95.34 billion, of which $61 billion is earmarked for Ukraine.

The bill now needs to be supported by the US House of Representatives, where Republicans are also refusing to vote for aid to Ukraine.

on13 March, House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said that the bill should be passed in the US House of Representatives by the end of next week.

The most massive attack on the energy sector

During the night and morning of 22 March, Ukrainian energy facilities in a number of regions of Ukraine came under a massive Russian attack.

The defenders managed to destroy 92 air targets: 55 Shaheds and 37 missiles.

There were hits, in particular, in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
