Total blackout in Dnipro: region without electricity, water, and heating
7 January 23:50
On the evening of January 7, Dnipro and a significant part of the Dnipropetrovsk region were left in complete darkness as a result of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure facilities. All thermal power plants (TPPs) and substations in the region were shut down, leaving the city without electricity, water, and heating. The critical situation was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Mykola Lukashuk, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, the entire city is without power due to the strikes on energy facilities, and there are currently no forecasts for restoration. Due to the lack of electricity, the water and heating supply systems automatically stopped working.
“At the moment, there are no forecasts for the restoration of power supply,” Mykola Lukashuk emphasized.
Water and heating: what is known
As of late evening, water and heating supplies in Dnipro have been cut off. The authorities are urging residents to urgently stock up on water if they still have it in their homes.
“Urgently stock up on water if you currently have water at home — make a reserve,” the head of the regional state administration appealed to the residents of the region.
The most difficult situation is in the Pavlohrad and Synelnykivskyi districts. There are also reports of power outages at some enterprises.
Transport and infrastructure
Due to a complete blackout in Dnipro, the metro has stopped: escalators are not working, and passengers are being led out of the tunnels manually.
In addition, suburban trains in the Dnipropetrovsk region have been suspended.
Points of invulnerability and recommendations
Authorities and volunteers remind residents that a map of “points of resilience” can be found in the “Dія” app. Rescue services are working in enhanced mode.
Residents are asked to remain calm, follow official announcements and recommendations from local authorities, and use available resources sparingly.
According to local residents, the total blackout also affected Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia. The situation remains tense, and updates are promised to be published promptly.
