The fire broke out at the Afipsky oil refinery on Wednesday night as a result of debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) falling, according to the Krasnodar Region’s operational headquarters, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian propaganda media.

“There were no casualties or damage to infrastructure. The falling debris caused a fire, which was quickly extinguished,” the report said.

The Afipsky refinery had previously been attacked by UAVs on August 7, August 28, and September 26, 2025.

The Afipsky refinery has two primary oil processing units with a capacity of 9,786 tons per day and 8,829 tons per day.

The plant is export-oriented and does not yet produce commercial gasoline and diesel fuel for the domestic market.

The Afipsky Refinery planned to modernize its deep oil refining complex by the end of 2025 in order to start producing 2.5 million tons per year of Euro-5 standard fuel.

In 2024, processing at the Afipsky Refinery, including the Krasnodar Refinery, which is merged with it, amounted to 7.2 million tons, and in January-June 2025, it amounted to 3 million tons, according to industry sources.
