The government has approved clear technical requirements that government agencies will specify when tender purchases of Internet services from providers. This was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Reportedly, government agencies have asked the Ministry of Digital Transformation to define the minimum requirements for the procurement of Internet service providers through a tender, and the government has already adopted new rules.

From now on, government agencies must set clear requirements for speed, stability, and monitoring when purchasing Internet services. This should help ensure that work in public institutions does not stop even during power outages.

“Every ASC, hospital, and any municipal institution must provide employees and visitors with uninterrupted access to the Internet during blackouts,” the ministry emphasized.

What changes with the adoption of new rules

Internet speed will depend on the number of employees and visitors:

– up to 20 users – at least 100 Mbps,

– 20-100 users – 500 Mbps,

– more than 100 users – 1 Gbps.

Institutions with 100 people should sign a contract with two providers to have a backup Internet connection in case of emergency.

Open Wi-Fi zones will be deployed in each institution in the waiting and service areas. This way, Ukrainians will be able to use the stable Internet if it goes out at home.

The government agencies will hold tenders with the new terms and conditions after the current agreements with providers are completed.

Diia has recently been helping to overcome communication problems

The app can be used to report the absence of communication and mobile Internet. This was announced at the end of January by Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.

“If your pages take a long time to load, you can’t make a call or TikTok won’t open, report it to Diia. You will find the service right on the main screen of the app,” the official said.

According to him, reporting a missing connection in Diia is very simple: you need to go to “Missing connection” on the Diia home screen, provide one-time access to the geolocation, and describe the situation.

“In order to send an application if there is no internet, you need to download the Map of Unbreakability in advance, and then, if you lose internet, leave the application in Diia, it will be automatically sent when the connection returns,” explained Mykhailo Fedorov.

He also said that the National Commission for the Regulation of Communications will receive the application and, having learned about the places where there are still problems with the Internet and communication, will start to fix the situation together with the operators.
