Law enforcers detain Energoatom top manager for bribery: details of the case

The deputy director general of the Atomenergomash branch of the national company Energoatom has been arrested on suspicion of receiving undue advantage.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The name of the suspect has not been disclosed. According to the SAPO, the official demanded an undue reward from a representative of a private contractor for timely payment for the work performed and no obstacles to fulfill contractual obligations.

The amount of the requested amount was from 10 to 15% of the cost of the paid works, which in total was to exceed UAH 6.6 million (about $157 thousand). The investigation found that from June to November 2025, she received part of the funds – $40.2 thousand.

Energoatom confirmed that investigative actions were carried out at one of the company’s branches . Currently, the Deputy CEO has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, one of the members of an organized group suspected of embezzling almost UAH 100 million from Energoatom during the construction of a spent fuel storage facility was extradited to Ukraine from Germany.

According to media sources, Dmytro Nesteruk was extradited. At the time, he was the head of a private construction company. It was BC KBR, which Nesteruk continues to own.

The SAPO report mentions a separate division of Energoatom, Atomproektengineering.

The investigation also established the involvement of the CEO of the Energoatom separate subdivision, the head of the estimate and contractual department of the separate subdivision of the Energoatom state enterprise and an employee of the legal department of a private company in this crime.
