Polish Prime Minister Tusk warns of “eternal war” in Ukraine

Any agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine will not be worth even the ink it will be signed in. This opinion was expressed by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in an interview published by The Sunday Times on Saturday, October 25, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the politician, it will be a “constant eternal war” until radical changes take place in Russia.

Polish Prime Minister: Ukraine is ready to fight for another two to three years

According to Tusk, Kyiv is concerned about the cost of the war for the population and economy of Ukraine if the fighting drags on even longer.

“I have no doubt that Ukraine will survive as an independent state. The main question now is how many victims there will be. President (of Ukraine Volodymyr – Ed.) Zelenskyy told me (on October 23 – Ed.) that he hopes the war will not last ten years, but that Ukraine is ready to fight for another two or three years,” the Prime Minister said.

The conflict is also hurting Russia’s economy, which Tusk said “has no chance of survival” in the long run. Moscow is facing “dramatic” problems, which are exacerbated by new US oil sanctions, the Polish prime minister added.

At the same time, Tusk said that internal turmoil would only make Putin more aggressive and expressed doubt as to how “stable” White House President Donald Trump’s new punitive approach to Moscow would be.

“The Russians are in a very difficult situation (economically – Ed.). Does this mean that we can say that we are winning? Not at all. They have one big advantage over the West, and especially over Europe: they are ready to fight… in wartime, this is an absolutely crucial issue,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Tusk warned the UK that it could no longer live under the “sweet illusion” that it would stand aside in the event of a war between NATO and Russia. According to the Polish Prime Minister, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told him during a joint visit to Kyiv in May that his former family home in Kentish Town, London, had been subjected to a series of arson attacks allegedly organized by Russian intelligence. Tusk added that he was stunned by the British public’s restrained reaction.

“The problem is that no one in the UK was surprised by this. I was shocked, to be honest. After the information about it appeared in the British press, the reaction was as if it was just a football match between Arsenal and Liverpool,” he said.

The Polish prime minister noted that if Moscow deploys hypersonic ballistic missiles “Oreshnik” in Belarus or Kaliningrad, it could easily launch a nuclear strike on any European capital, including London.

Earlier, on September 22, Tusk said that Poland would respond decisively to violations of its airspace.
