Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has expressed support for Ukraine’s aspirations to become a member of the European Union, but Kyiv must fulfill all the necessary conditions. This is stated on the website of the Slovak government, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The Prime Minister also said that Slovakia had received €101 million from the EU, which will be used for various projects, mainly related to energy infrastructure in Ukraine.

“Slovak firms can use these funds as loans for projects in Ukraine, and the loans are guaranteed by European institutions,” the Prime Minister said.

He noted that new talks between the governments of Slovakia and Ukraine are scheduled for this fall to discuss further joint projects.

“The Slovak government wishes Ukraine European development, if Ukraine wants to join the EU, it is its sovereign decision, and we support this decision,” Robert Fico added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine must fulfill all the conditions for joining the EU.

The statement also noted that Ukraine’s membership in the EU would open up far more opportunities than potential difficulties.
