The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) has issued a statement announcing that it will not recognize the results of voting at foreign polling stations and calling Alexandru Stoianoglo the “real winner” of the presidential election in Moldova. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"

The Socialists, who nominated Stoianoglo for the election, believe that he is the “real winner of the presidential election,” while Maia Sandu is called “illegitimate president.”

“Maia Sandu is an illegitimate president. She is recognized only by her sponsors and curators from abroad. The people of Moldova feel deceived and robbed. The presidential election, including voting in the Transnistrian region and at polling stations abroad, cannot be considered a free and democratic expression of the people’s will. Maia Sandu became the “president of the diaspora”. The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova does not recognize the voting at foreign polling stations, thanks to which Sandu was declared the winner of the elections,”

– the PSRM said.

At the same time, the socialists have not yet called for protests. They said that they intend to start negotiations with other political parties and public organizations to develop a “joint strategy for depoliticizing state bodies and ensuring equal conditions during election campaigns.”

“The people of Moldova made their choice on November 3, 2024, expressing their desire to change this government. The people of Moldova will continue to make decisions during the upcoming parliamentary elections,”

– the PSRM summarized.

As reported by , incumbent Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who defends her country’s pro-Western course, won a landslide victory in the elections, outpacing her opponent from the pro-Russian Party of Socialists, Alexandru Stoianoglo, by more than 10%. Sandu was supported by 55.33% of voters, while Stoianoglo received 44.67%. This provided Sandu with a confident advantage of more than 176 thousand votes.
