Poland has extended assistance to refugees from Ukraine for only one year. This was stated by Polish President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting with voters, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Kresy.pl.
“This is the last time I signed the law on assistance to Ukrainians,” he said.
According to the head of state, the Ukrainian minority in the country should be treated the same as all other national minorities in the third year after the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Navrotsky explained that the initial version of the law that came to him for signature contained provisions on providing assistance to 800 Ukrainians who do not work in Poland, which he found unacceptable.
“It was an unfair decision in relation to the Poles,” the Polish president said.
on November 12, Navrotsky said that Poland would not put Ukraine’s interests above its own.
on September 26, the Polish president signed a law extending the special status and assistance for Ukrainian refugees. He also signed a document on the termination of benefits for unemployed foreigners.
According to the law, the special status and assistance for Ukrainian refugees, as well as funding for Starlink terminals for Ukraine, are extended for six months until March 2026.
