President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova has arrived in Ukraine on her last visit to the country, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“I am here! Today I arrived in Kyiv on a farewell visit. I am here for the fourth time during my mandate, and for the third time during the war. I am also here because I bring good news about Slovakia’s assistance to Ukraine,”
– the President wrote on social media.
In Kyiv, she met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In her statement during the briefing, she said that Slovaks had already raised €4 million to help Ukraine. This was an initiative of Slovak citizens after Prime Minister Robert Fico refused to join the Czech Republic’s initiative to purchase shells for Ukraine. It is likely that Chaputova was referring to these 4 million euros when she wrote about the good news about Slovakia’s assistance.
“Slovakia was the first country to provide Ukraine with aircraft and air defence systems. We have already given everything we could give. Our society has not changed after the elections – many people continue to stand by Ukraine. Today we have already raised €4 million. This tragedy must be stopped and the entire civilised world must take part in this,”
– she said.
Zuzana Chaputova is a friend of Ukraine who has pursued a pro-Ukrainian policy throughout the full-scale war with Ukraine. In June, she will be replaced as President of Slovakia by Peter Pellegrini, who is a fellow Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico on the issue of attitudes towards Ukraine. After that, Slovakia will have no top officials who would support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
