Roberta Metsola is a friend of Ukraine
It is not the first time that President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has visited Ukraine. Her first visit to Kyiv took place in April 2022, shortly after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. At that time, she was one of the first European leaders to personally come to Ukraine’s capital to show support. In the Verkhovna Rada, Metsola emphasized that Ukrainians are defending not only their country but also common European values and promised that the European Parliament would do everything possible to strengthen sanctions against Russia and help Ukraine rebuild.
Metsola next visited Ukraine in March 2023, this time to Lviv. She met with Volodymyr Zelensky and confirmed that the European Parliament was in favor of starting negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU. The President of the European Parliament also took charge of humanitarian initiatives, including the Generators of Hope campaign aimed at helping Ukrainian communities during the energy crisis.
Metsola has consistently stood by Ukraine in international forums, calling our country an integral part of the European community. She emphasizes that supporting Kyiv is not only a moral obligation, but also a matter of security for the entire European Union.
