The Ukrainian new passenger car market showed a significant recovery in July 2024. About 6.4 thousand new passenger cars were registered last month. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukravtoprom.

This is 20% more than in July last year and 24% more than in June 2024.

By the way, this year more cars were bought only in March.

The Japanese brand TOYOTA continues to hold the lead in the new car market. In July, 1,024 new cars of this brand joined the Ukrainian car fleet.

The second most popular brand, as in June, is BMW – 628 units.

RENAULT took the third place with 587 units.

SKODA (378 units) and VOLKSWAGEN (334 units) also made it to the TOP 5 in July.

The bestseller of the month was again RENAULT Duster (541 units).

In total, since the beginning of the year, more than 39.2 thousand new passenger cars have been registered in Ukraine, which is 21% more than in the same period in 2023.

It should be noted that demand for cars with traditional engines is falling in Ukraine. In June 2024, cars with conventional engines accounted for more than 61% of the new passenger car market. Last year, this figure was 71%.

Petrol-engined models remain the most popular, accounting for 36.9% of June new car sales, down almost 10 percentage points from June 2023.

At the same time, the share of diesel cars remained almost unchanged at 24.7%.

The share of hybrids increased significantly from 18% to 22.9%.

The electric vehicle segment also grew from 10.5% to 15.2%.

As in the previous year, CNG cars accounted for less than 1% of new car sales.

The statistics show the growing popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and indicate the regions where these cars are in greatest demand. The demand for electric vehicles grew by 68% over the year.

Meanwhile, the West is fighting the Chinese electric car industry: The EU is ready to take tough measures against Chinese electric cars, and the US will quadruple tariffs on them.
