Ukraine is testing a new way to help its military regain strength and speed up their physical recovery after being wounded.
The Re:start project was launched by the Gorno Charitable Foundation and Favbet Foundation. Everything is based on VR technologies and special games that combine physical exercise with immersion in the virtual world.

Over the course of the year, the Re:start project opened five VR spaces in medical institutions: Kyiv Regional Hospital #2, Kyiv Rehabilitation Hospital #75, Dnipro City Hospital #4, Lviv Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation “Halychyna”, and a rehabilitation hospital in Vinnytsia Oblast. All of them are equipped with modern technology. The zones are open every day, with several sessions per day. Depending on the patients’ needs, it can be from 3 to 8 sessions of several hours each. In some locations, it is possible to hold up to 11 game sessions daily.

All locations received the same equipment: PlayStation 5 Slim, Sony PlayStation VR2 VR glasses, TVs, HD cameras, Wi-Fi routers, and presentation stands. PlayStation Plus Extra subscriptions were also purchased for four locations with therapeutic gaming areas.
