The propagandists were torn apart by the Peace Summit: Medvedev called Russia’s partners cattle, and Skabeyeva dedicated a talk show to them

“Swiss tent”, “cattle yard”, “Maloney the fool” and farce. Russian propagandists and the Kremlin have never stooped so low. If the Peace Summit in Switzerland is described with such lame phrases, why did the propagandists devote hundreds of posts in telegrams, media publications and make it the main topic of their propaganda talk shows? Kommersant Ukrainian has collected all the most absurd reactions to the Global Peace Summit from the swamps and, together with diplomats, political scientists and even psychologists, figured out why Russian propagandists are still foaming at the mouth!

It seemed that we were already used to Dmitry Medvedev’s crazy posts on Telegram. But if earlier they concerned Ukraine or the West, this time the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation attacked Putin’s partners:

“To “resolve the conflict”, the cunning Swiss shepherds called in only proven animals: a crazy small boar, swallowed a sexual pathogen, with his constant mate, a herd of blissfully bleating Western Alpine rams, and a pack of European chain dogs. The dogs bark, spray poisoned saliva in all directions and keep order. And you have to watch out: the sheep often vomit randomly […..] In general, alpine grazing is just a grim shit that furiously burns through taxpayers’ money.”

Dmitry Medvedev

And now in plain language: theRussian Security Council called the representatives of the UAE and Saudi Arabia , where Putin went to pay his respects in December 2023, “cattle”and “gloomy sh it”. First of all, these are one of the few countries where Putin will not be handcuffed. And secondly, they help the dictator circumvent sanctions and keep oil prices up. But it’s not Medvedev’s place to look the representatives of these countries in the eye next time.

The President of Somalia, whom Putin hosted in the summer of 2023 and who is important to the Kremlin in light of its partnership with Africa, is also among the “cattle”.

Will there be a reaction from the countries that Medvedev attacked?

Diplomat, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, head of the Centre for Russian Studies, comments for Kommersant Ukrainian:

“How does an adequate person react to a sick person? They understand that they need to treat them calmly, as if they were a patient. Russia is now turning into a global pariah, a country that is not perceived adequately by anyone, including their political leadership. All the attempts to twist the arms of some countries so that they don’t go, or so that they go but don’t vote, or so that they don’t sign declarations, etc. are a traditional form of Russia’s work with third world countries. But there is nothing new here.”

Volodymyr Ohryzko, diplomat

Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko, in turn, emphasises that the deputy head of the Security Council actually “ran over” the BRICS international organisation. And his post sparked a heated debate in Russia itself and even criticism of Dmitry Medvedev himself. This is because some of the BRICS countries, apart from China, took part in the Peace Summit. According to Fesenko, it is important to pay attention not only to Medvedev, who has long played the role of a political freak, but also to other officials and Russian propaganda.

The top of the hysterical statements about the peace summit is propagandist Yulia Vityazeva, who called the Italian prime minister a “fool“. The blogger from Odesa, who has already been suspected in absentia of collaboration and justifying the war, wrote the following in her telegram:

“There are women who are ‘cute, how stupid’ and then there are women who are ‘horrible, how stupid’. Maloney seemed to be a representative of the former. But it turned out that she confidently belongs to the latter.”

Yulia Vityazeva, Kremlin propagandist

The propagandist was enraged by a harsh statement by Georgie Maloney:

“Defending Ukraine means uniting all the efforts of the international community to protect Ukraine. If Russia does not agree to the terms, we will force it to surrender.”

Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy

Skabeyeva went even further, dedicating an entire talk show to the Peace Summit in Switzerland.

The studio’s propagandists clung to politicians’ words like “a peace summit without Russia is impossible”, which was indeed the case on the Swiss Foreign Ministry’s website. But propagandists wouldn’t be propagandists if they didn’t leave out inconvenient details. For example, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands explains the correctness of the decision to hold the summit without Russia:

“Those who gathered for the summit have different views on this problem, but everyone is looking in the same direction and everyone has an understanding of what needs to be done. You can’t invade another country, kidnap children, you can’t play with food security, you can’t jeopardise radiation safety. We are giving an important signal by showing that not only the Ukrainian people want peace, but everyone wants it.”

Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands

“The whole conference looks like a farce and an attempt to ‘support’ Ukraine not financially, but politically,” writes another pro-Kremlin telegram channel. Apparently, the author of the post did not know that the West does not need to organise summits to provide financial support to Ukraine. There are also meetings in the Ramstein format, where arms transfers to Ukraine are approved in real time.

Moreover, propagandists have begun to justify Serbia and Hungary, which signed the final document of the Peace Summit. They say, “they just want to maintain a balance between their position and the European one”. But let me remind you that Medvedev also called them cattle.

The list of participating countries caused the propagandists to foam at the mouth

“Their [Russian propagandists’] reaction should be interpreted as an admission that Russia has suffered a diplomatic Tsushima. It’s simple: Ukraine, your enemy, convenes an international conference. And more than half the world is going to attend, including some of those you consider your own. How can this be assessed otherwise than as your own catastrophe? And this, of course, causes foaming at the mouth and all these inadequate reactions.”

Volodymyr Ohryzko, diplomat

As a result of all the tantrums and accusations, Putin has driven himself into a dead end. On the one hand, Ogryzko recalls, Putin complains in a speech to his propaganda ministry that he was not invited, Russia was abandoned, and no one pays attention. On the other hand, at a meeting with “Russian diplomats,” he said that Zelenskyy was illegitimate. So with whom is he going to communicate, the diplomat asks a rhetorical question?

By the way, Zelenskyy has also banned himself from negotiating with Putin by decree, Ohryzko notes.

“And here I am really surprised by the position of the Swiss president, who for some reason considers it her political credo to get Putin to Switzerland. It is not clear what the point of this is. But this logic seems very strange.”

Vladimir Ohryzko, diplomat

Call a psychologist: in Russia, the war and occupation are called a “reasonable plan”

“There is no reasonable alternative to Putin’s peace plan for Ukraine,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said after all the hysteria. And such measures are not capable of creating conditions for a sustainable and just peace, according to the terrorist country.

Presumably, all of the above propaganda messages should be considered from a socio-psychological and political-psychological point of view. Valentyn Kim, a psychologist and expert in non-verbal communication, helped us with this.

Valentyn Kim, psychologist

Is it possible to explain the aggression in the posts of propagandists like Medvedev from a psychological point of view?

– It is very difficult to assess such passages from Medvedev diplomatically, because it is not about rationing, but about emotions. We can see that Medvedev’s posts generally differ from others in their excessive emotionality, the use of a huge number of metaphors and analogies. They are reminiscent of the decadent poems of Charles Baudelaire. We can draw more conclusions about the author of the text than about what he writes about. In this case, there is a regression and degradation of the author. This fits in with the theory that for people around Putin, who are very weak in terms of moral and ethical values, being around the dictator at this time is very destructive and destroys them. And Medvedev’s position, his behaviour, resembles a person trying to preserve himself. His verbal aggression is a form of self-preservation.

Why is Russia, while denying the importance of the Peace Summit on the one hand, talking about it so much on the other?

– No matter what Russia tries to tell us, it is a Eurocentric country focused on Europe. More than 90 countries gathered at the summit, and Putin met with representatives of two or three countries, which is a huge humiliation for Putin himself. He understands that his international position is degrading. And it was necessary to edit, to devalue what was happening, to demonstrate that it did not matter at all. Everything was done in order to somehow save face. Because they can’t do anything else, and they are losing this war on the diplomatic front.

And here the opinion of diplomats, psychologists and political scientists is unanimous: the Peace Summit did launch a special peace process. Based on the UN Charter, respect for international law and taking into account the interests and position of Ukraine. And that is why Russia is reacting so hysterically. And we are witnessing a historic process – the beginning of the destruction of the Kremlin’s so-called “reasonable peace plan”.
